the ICCEDA is committed to transparency, and in preparation for new data protection laws that take effect soon, we are updating our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service presenting you at the same time the Legal Framework in order encourage you to make the best decisions about the information that you share over the internet and with us.

All data protection updates the so called General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), will take effect on May 25, 2018.

By using our services on or after that date, you will be agreeing to these revisions in order to use properly, with control and safely your information and the websites you trust and use. We encourage you and you should read the documents in full.

General Information

  • the ICCEDA offer our users choices about the data we collect, use and share as described in this Privacy Policy.

  • On May the 1st, 2018, we published revised versions of our Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service. Please read these updated terms and take some time to comprehend them.   • Our registered users (“Members, Friends, Volunteers, Associates or Visitors”) may share through our website their identities through comments and replies, engage with their network, exchange knowledge and professional vies and insights, comment and view relevant content or learn and find new opportunities that suit them. Content and data on some of our services is viewable to non-members (“Visitors”).

  • We use the term “Designated Countries” to refer to countries in the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland.

Data Controllers and Contracting Parties

  • If you reside in the “Designated Countries”: our company will be the controller of your personal data provided to or collected by or for, or processed in connection with our services; Please read the Terms of Service and your Agreement with our company.

  • If you reside outside of the Designated Countries: our company will be the controller of your personal data provided to, or collected by or for, or processed in connection with, our services; Please read the Terms of Service and your Agreement with our company.

  • As a Visitor or Member using our services, the collection, use and sharing of your personal data is subject to this Privacy Policy (which does not includes a Cookie Policy because we do not use Cookies and other documents referenced in this Privacy Policy) and updates.

Change

  • Changes to the Privacy Policy apply to your use of our services after the “effective date.”

1 – Data We Collect

1.1 – Data You Provide to Us

You provide data to create an account with us.

Registration

To create an account you need to provide data including your name, email address and if requested a mobile number, organisation you are representing and a password If you need to register as a Member, Friend, Volunteer, Associate or Visitor and enter into a back office environment if provided or to purchase services or goods then you will need to provide payment (e.g., credit card) and billing information.

Profile

You may have choices about the information on your profile, such as your education, work experience, skills, photo, city or area and endorsements. Some Members or Volunteers or Associates may choose to complete a separate profile.

You do not have to provide additional information on your profile; however, profile information helps you to get more from our services, including helping recruiters and business opportunities find you.

it is your choice whether to include sensitive information on your profile and we strongly discourage you to make that sensitive information public. Please do not post or add personal data to your profile that you would not want to be publicly available in the future.

You do not have to post or upload personal data; though if you do not, it may limit your ability to grow and engage with your network over our services.

  • Profile – We clarify that you are not obligated to provide us personal data beyond the limited data we need for you to register your account or to make payments if you pay our membership fees (if any), purchase products and services (if any) from us.

  • Profile – We also clarify that we do not require you to provide “sensitive personal data” to use our services.

1.2 – Data from Others

  • Others may post or write about you.

  • Content and News – You and others may post content that includes information about you (as part of articles, posts, comments, videos) on our services.

  • Contact and Calendar Information – We clarify that third parties and others outside our website, can not view your details.

  • Related Companies and Other services – We describe how we may receive information about you from our affiliates (including the the ICCEDA).

1.3 – Your Device and Location

  • We clarify that we will get your separate permission before we collect information about your precise location for a feature.

Partners

We will not sell, promote, hand over, give away or distribute your personal data we receive about you when you use our website and our services, to other customers, partners, employers, prospective employers.

Related Companies and Other services

We receive data about you when you use some of the other services provided by us or our affiliates, including our affiliate body . For example, you may choose to send information about your contacts in our affiliate body apps and services, to us for improved professional networking activities on our services.

1.5 Cookies, Web Beacons and Other Similar Technologies

We do not collect collect data through cookies and similar technologies (e.g., web beacons, pixels, ad tags and device identifiers) to recognize you and/or your device(s) on, off and across different services and devices. We also allow some others to use cookies and when it happens you may have the choice to accept or decline.

1.6 Messages

If you communicate through our services, we learn about that.

We collect information about you when you send, receive, or engage with messages in connection with our services. For example, if you get a website connection request, we track whether you have acted on it and will send you reminders. We also do not use automatic scanning technology on messages.

2 – How We Use Your Data

2.1 – Stay Connected

We add a reference to the setting, where ever it is applicable the use of settings or applications that allows you to control whether you want to share who your connections are with others.

2.2 – Stay Informed

We provide additional clarity about the data we use, to provide you -if it is practically possible or designed-, more relevant content suggestions and experiences in our services.

2.3 – Communications

  • We may contact you in order to enable communications between Members, Friends, Volunteers or Associates. We offer settings to control what messages you receive and how often you receive some types of messages.

  • We will contact you through email, mobile phone, notices posted on our websites or apps, messages to your inbox, and other ways through our services, including text messages and push notifications.

  • We will send you messages about the availability of our services, security, or other service-related issues. We also send messages about how to use the services, events and productions, network updates, reminders.

2.4 – Career

  • We clarify that we may use automated systems in order to present you with better opportunities and to make our services more relevant to you.

2.5 – Communications

  • We add that we may contact you through mobile numbers (if we offer the option that we collect telephone nymbers as well and not just email.

2.6 – Advertising

  • We provide additional clarity that we may serve you ads manly directly and possibly indirectly on and off our services, subject to your settings.

  • In case of a collaboration with thirds such as advertisers or partners, we provide additional information about if, when and how we may share your personal data with them. We also, occasionally, and if there is a third party (platform or plugins) provide information about how third parties may be able to use cookies.

  • We serve you tailored ads both on and off our services. We do not offer you choices regarding personalized ads as we do not process data through cookies, but you cannot opt-out of seeing other ads.

  • We target (and measure the performance of) ads to Members, Friends, Volunteers or Associates and others both on and off our services directly or through a variety of partners, using the following data, whether separately or combined:

  • Member-provided information (e.g., profile, contact information, title and industry);

    • Data from your use of our services (e.g., search history, feed, content you read if it is linked to a mechanism that allow us to know, who you follow or is following you, connections, groups participation, page visits, videos you watch, clicking on an ad, etc.);

    • Information from advertising partners and publishers (if any, this may require your authorisation;

    • We use data to help you and fix problems.

    • We use the data (which can include your communications) to investigate, respond to and resolve complaints and Service issues (e.g., bugs).

We will show you ads called content provided by sponsors or non-sponsored content. If you take an action (such as like, comment or share if we provide the share buttons) on these ads, your action is associated with your name and viewable by others, including the advertiser. Subject to your settings.

2.7 – Surveys

Polls and surveys may be conducted by us and possibly others through our services. You are not obligated to respond to polls or surveys, and you have choices about the information you provide. You may opt-out of all survey invitations.

2.8 – Affiliated or Partner Companies

  • We may share your data across our different services and affiliated entities such us

    • We may share your personal data with our affiliates to provide and develop our services.

    • We may combine information internally across the different services covered by this Privacy Policy to help our services be more relevant and useful to you and others.

2.9 Service Providers

We may dispute such demands when we believe, in our discretion, that the requests are over broad, vague or lack proper authority, but we do not promise to challenge every demand.

3 – How We Share Information

3.1 Our services

  • Profile – We add greater clarity about your profile visibility.

  • Posts, Comments and Messages – We provide additional clarity and details about what is made available and accessible to others when you take an action on our services. Social actions such as posting, commenting and sharing are associated with you and visible to others.

3.2 Others’ services

We provide greater clarity about when your profile may be found and accessed off of our services (subject to your settings).

3.3 Related services

We provide clarity about how we will use data that is shared across services covered by the Privacy Policy and removed a reference to a Service that we no longer support.

4 – Your Choices & Obligations

4.1 Data Retention

We clarify that data we retain may have been provided directly by you, inferred from your use of the services or provided by a third party. We keep most of your personal data for as long as your account is open. We retain your personal data while your account is in existence or as needed to provide you services. This includes data you or others provided to us and data generated or inferred from your use of our services.

4.2 Rights to Access and Control Your Personal Data

Regardless of whether you are our Member, Friend, Volunteer, Associate or a Visitor, you may exercise the following data protection rights: the right of deletion, the right to amend or rectify your personal data, the right to object to the use of your personal data, the right to restrict processing of your data, the right of access, and the right of portability.

  • You can access or delete your personal data or ask us to delete it for you. You have many choices about how your data is collected, used and shared.

  • We provide many choices about the collection, use and sharing of your data, from deleting or correcting data you include in your profile and controlling the visibility of your comments, to advertising opt-outs and communications controls. For personal data that we have about you:

  • Delete Data: You can ask us to erase or delete all or some of your personal data (e.g., if it is no longer necessary to provide services to you).

  • Change or Correct Data: You can edit some of your personal data through your account. You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. You can also ask us to change, update or fix your data in certain cases, particularly if it is inaccurate.   • Object to, or Limit or Restrict, Use of Data: You can ask us to stop using all or some of your personal data (e.g., if we have no legal right to keep using it) or to limit our use of it (e.g., if your personal data is inaccurate or unlawfully held).

  • Right to Access and/or Take Your Data: You can ask us for a copy of your personal data and can ask for a copy of personal data you provided in machine readable form.

Residents in the Designated Countries may have additional rights under their laws.

4.3 Account Closure

We keep some of your data even after you close your account.

If you choose to close your account, your personal data will generally stop being visible to others on our services within 72 hours. We generally delete closed account information within 60 days of account closure, except as noted below.

We retain your personal data even after you have closed your account if reasonably necessary to comply with our legal obligations (including law enforcement requests), meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our User Agreement, or fulfill your request to “unsubscribe” from further messages from us. We will retain de-personalized information after your account has been closed.

Information you have shared with others (e.g., through email, updates or group posts) will remain visible after you closed your account or deleted the information from your own profile or mailbox, and we do not control data that other Members copied out of our services. Groups content and ratings or review content associated with closed accounts will show an unknown user as the source. Your profile may continue to be displayed in the services of others (e.g., search engine results) until they refresh their cache.

5 – Other Important Information

5.1 – Cross Border Data Transfers

We clarify that the ICCEDA operates on a global basis and may transfer data to countries that may have data protection laws that differ from those of your country.

5.2 – Lawful Bases for Processing

As before, the ICCEDA will only collect and process your personal data when we have lawful bases for doing so. These lawful bases include when you provide us consent, when we have a contractual obligation to collect or process your personal data, and when we have a legitimate interest in processing your personal data.

We do not control any Cookie Policy because we do not collect data through Cookies and we do not send Cookies to our Members, Friends, Volunteers, Associates or Visitors accounts or websites. If a third party we use such as a platform or a plug in uses Cookies then you will be notified and reply to the options.

5.5 – Security

  • We monitor for and try to prevent security breaches. Please use the security features available through our services.

  • We implement security safeguards designed to protect your data, such as HTTPS.

  • We regularly monitor our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks. However, we cannot warrant the security of any information that you send us. There is no guarantee that data may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.

5.6 – Password and Security (Friends, Volunteers, Members or Visitors)
To become either a
Friend or a Volunteer or a Members you to apply by filling the application form and following the process we offer. After acceptance of your membership application, you will be asked to create a unique password of your choice. We strongly encourage you to keep this password confidential and will not disclose or share it with anyone. You are responsible for keeping your password safe. If you suspect there is a breach, please contact us directly to any of our provided emails. Password, security and login details are non-transferable.

5.7 – Cross-Border Data Transfers

  • We store and use your data outside your country.

  • We process data both inside and outside of the EU and rely on legally provided mechanisms to lawfully transfer data across borders. Countries where we process data may have laws which are different, and potentially not as protective, as the laws of your own country.

5.8 – Direct Marketing and Do Not Track Signals

We currently do not share personal data with third parties for their direct marketing purposes without your permission.

5.9 – Event and Ticket Sales
Everyone is able to purchase a ticket for our conferences and events from us or our affiliated, partner or related companies and organisations. Prices and availability will be changing from time to time. In case that we are unable to hold an event, individuals or groups will receive a full refund of any tickets purchased. No refund will be given if individuals or groups who cancel their own tickets.

5.10 – Lawful Bases for Processing

  • We have lawful bases to collect, use and share data about you. You have choices about our use of your data.

  • At any time, you can withdraw consent you have provided by going to settings.

  • We will only collect and process personal data about you where we have lawful bases. Lawful bases include consent (where you have given consent), contract (where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you (e.g. to deliver the our services you have requested) and “legitimate interests”.
